MINIDETH
Hair|Cloth|Body Simulation
"Minideth" is an ongoing project in Houdini that focuses on simulating the hair, cloth, and body of a Punk Teddy bear.

Responsible for: Groom, simulation, environment model/texture.
Groom and Simulation Evolution
Original Groom
The original groom contained thick clumps and stylized spikes in the hands. As experiments with the simulation continued, many elements, such as the clumping in the mohawk, would be reworked.
Walk Cycle
The Walk Cycle features simulated hair and cloth. Both elements had to be re-worked from the original groom to allow the mohawk and shirt to simulate correctly. A point wrangle node was added to limit hair simulation to the very tips of the mohawk.
Ragdoll Simulation
With the shirt and hair simulating correctly, I added a vellum simulation to the body, allowing it to move more like a teddy bear. I chose to use the vellum struts constraint to control the simulations. Adding the environment allowed me to add context to this simulation.
Headbang
What's better than one punk teddy bear? Two punk teddy bears! With this simulation I wanted to really see what the hair can do-- and I am super happy with how the headbangs turned out.
